Cancer Rehab Program

Program description:

  • 12-week program that runs all year round
  • Free of charge (option to make a donation at any time)
  • Designed for people who currently have, or have had a cancer diagnosis (pre-treatment, undergoing treatment or post-treatment, and inclusive of all cancer types)
  • Classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-2:30pm
  • Led by two Registered Physiotherapists – Emilee Gagnier and Rhonda Chamberlain
  • Group session with attention paid to individual needs and restrictions

Benefits of Exercise during cancer treatment:

  • Decreased fatigue
  • Increased strength
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Increased sense of control
  • Decreased chance of recurrence

Types of Exercise included in program?

  • Aerobic (i.e. walking, rowing, biking)
  • Strength (i.e. light weight lifting, squats, lunges, step ups, ring pulls)
  • Flexibility/core stability

  • Clean indoor running shoes
